Daryl Dragon

Daryl Dragon (1942-2019) was an American musician and songwriter, best known as one half of the pop duo Captain & Tennille, alongside his then-wife Toni Tennille. Their genre primarily encompassed soft rock and pop, with a distinctive sound characterized by Dragon's keyboard skills and Tennille's vocal prowess. Dragon gained significant recognition in the 1970s, with Captain & Tennille achieving major success with hits like "Love Will Keep Us Together," which topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 1975 and won a Grammy Award for Record of the Year. Other notable works include "Do That to Me One More Time" and "Muskrat Love," both of which showcased their catchy melodies and harmonies. Beyond his work with Tennille, Dragon was a session musician and contributed to the Beach Boys' recordings in the 1960s, earning the nickname "Captain" for his nautical attire during performances. The duo's cheerful sound and relatable lyrics impacted the soft rock genre, influencing subsequent pop artists.
